Handwoven in collaboration with master artisans in Sandoná, Nariño, our Tagua Placemat is a refined expression of natural Colombian craftsmanship. Its elegant round silhouette is crafted from fine iraca palm — the same prized fibre used in the making of Panama hats — offering a beautifully structured yet lightweight foundation for the table.
The base is meticulously woven from natural iraca fibres and delicately stained using natural dyes, showcasing the exceptional skill required to transform this humble material into an intricate work of art. Sandoná’s weavers are renowned for their precision, and each placemat reflects generations of artisanal expertise.
Encircling the woven centre is a distinctive fringe of Tagua seed — a tropical palm seed often referred to as “vegetable ivory” for its smooth texture and luminous finish. The sculptural border introduces natural movement and organic elegance, with varying seed tones creating subtle contrast and depth.
Available in Ivory and Café, each colourway features a considered combination of tagua seed shades within the design, enhancing its textural richness and visual character.
Entirely handmade and sustainably crafted, Tagua frames our hand-painted plates and bowls beautifully, adding warmth, depth and a refined nod to Colombia’s rich biodiversity.
