Handwoven from natural iraca palm in the artisan town of Usiacurí, our Atarraya Placemat forms part of CasaLatina’s Weaves Capsule - a celebration of round placemats crafted using intricate weaving patterns distinctive to this celebrated Colombian weaving community.
Inspired by the traditional fishing nets cast along the Magdalena River, Atarraya takes its name and artistry from the radial geometry of these hand-thrown nets. Its complex, open weave reflects both movement and precision, showcasing the remarkable technical skill passed down through generations of Usiacurí artisans.
Entirely handwoven and sustainably crafted, Atarraya brings texture, structure and quiet drama to the table. Its circular form creates a balanced foundation for layered place settings and frames our hand-painted plates and bowls perfectly, enhancing both pattern and colour. Available in Natural or Natural with Mustard, Atarraya offers versatility - from understated elegance to a subtle infusion of warmth. Designed to be mixed within the Weaves Capsule or styled as a statement on its own, it brings Colombian craftsmanship and contemporary refinement to every setting.
