The Chamba Oval Cocotte is a refined expression of ancestral black pottery, crafted by hand in La Chamba, Colombia. Sculpted from natural clay and burnished with agate stone, its deep black tone and soft satin sheen are achieved without glazes or toxins — just earth and tradition.

Its elegant oval silhouette is perfectly suited to slow-cooked rice dishes, beans, pulses and oven-baked recipes, allowing heat to circulate gently and evenly. The fitted lid locks in moisture and flavour, and the piece moves seamlessly from stove or oven to the table. Available in two sizes for everyday meals and generous gatherings alike.

Care Guide

Handmade from natural, non-toxic black clay, Chamba pieces are made to be used and cherished.

Before first use: Cure by filling to 3/4 with boiling water, placing in a hot oven, and heating for about 30-45 minutes. Allow to cool fully before washing.
Use: Oven-safe and suitable for open flame. Not compatible with induction. Avoid sudden temperature changes.
Care: Hand wash only. Not dishwasher safe. Restore sheen by wiping with white wine vinegar.

Crafted using ancestral techniques, each piece will develop its own rich character over time.

The Potters of La Chamba

Each piece of this iconic black clay pottery is crafted using a traditional process that dates back centuries, lovingly fashioned by generations of families in the quaint village of La Chamba, Colombia.

These vessels are made using only local micaceous clay, harvested straight from the banks of the Magdalena River, shaped by hand and fire-cured on-site to achieve the signature black finish that sets Chamba Pottery apart from the rest.
