Handwoven from fine natural iraca palm in collaboration with master artisans in Sandoná, Nariño, our Chaquira Placemat is a celebration of intricate craftsmanship and cultural storytelling. Its refined round silhouette is elevated by a delicately beaded edge, transforming a traditional woven placemat into a statement piece for the table.

The base is meticulously crafted using natural iraca fibres, subtly stained with natural dyes to enhance their warmth and depth. The intricate weave reflects the exceptional skill passed down through generations of Sandoná weavers, renowned for their precision and artistry.

Encircling the woven centre is a distinctive beaded border inspired by a necklace discovered by our founder in a Colombian street market. These traditional chaquira necklaces are handwoven by the Embera Indigenous women of Risaralda, and this placemat pays homage to their craftsmanship — creating what can only be described as jewellery for your table.

Available in Khaki, Burnt Yellow and Red, Chaquira brings richness and character to a variety of tablescapes. Matching napkin rings are also available, allowing you to create a cohesive and beautifully layered setting.
